Our practitioner is a graduate of the prestigious Institute of trichologists, which consisted of four year’s intensive study covering various aspects of hair and scalp disorders, hair chemistry and sciences, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, genetics and microscopy.
A full case history would be taken, which would include a full medical history, a thorough examination of the hair and scalp, a treatment plan which includes UVA and RAD lamps for various treatments of hair loss, high frequency treatment, blood tests may be necessary and referral to the GP or to the appropriate health care professional if needed.

Julie attended the clinic worried about her hair loss. On examining her scalp she indeed had diffuse hair loss and it was affecting her whole scalp. During the consultation it was decided to follow up with a test for serum ferritin (iron stores) and thyroid hormones. On reviewing her case and test results our trichologist came to the diagnose of Telogen Effluvium. This condition is characterised by an interruption in the normal hair growth cycle, forcing the hairs to stay in the ‘resting’ phase of the growth cycle. This can affect up to 400 hairs every day. With this knowledge, our trichologist started treatment using electrotherapy and specific nutritional supplements to redress the ferritin deficiency.
