Jennifer trained at the Upledger Institute, UK. Craniosacral Therapy is a hands-on, whole body therapy; not limited to the cranium (head) or the sacrum (base of spine). Powerful and profound and yet gentle and safe, Craniosacral Therapy uses no manipulation and is suitable for people of all ages and conditions. The motion of cerebrospinal fluid which bathes and cushions the brain and spinal cord is so subtle that it can barely be measured by delicate scientific instruments, but it can be perceived by the hands of a trained therapist. Studies have found that craniosacral motion is necessary not only for physical health but also for mental and emotional balance.
In response to physical knocks, emotional stress, toxins and even limiting beliefs, the body’s tissues contract in protection. Sometimes when the shock to the system is severe or occurs within an emotional situation, the tissues stay contracted. Any stresses, tensions or traumas which have been stored in the body in this way will restrict the body’s craniosacral motion and its natural capacity to self-heal and will possibly give rise to problems over time. This state of being can then give rise to feelings of numbness, disease, a sense of something missing or being beside oneself. It can lead to migraine, digestive disorders, anxiety, tiredness and pains in the body.
Using the hands to feel these subtle motions or their lack, Craniosacral therapists can identify the possible origin of problems and their effects. By supporting the release of bound up energy in areas of restriction or congestion, therapists can assist in guiding the body back to optimal health.
